At Cuddles Childcare Centres, we usually focus on doing what we can to give our children in the Perth area a great experience that helps them learn while playing. Sometimes, though, we like to alert parents of opportunities for their children outside of the Childcare Centres but in the Perth area. One such opportunity is the Foxdale Riding School.
The Foxdale Riding School is located in Baldivis. They have a full slate of riding school services, but the one we like the most is the pony rides for children. Children can ride individually or multiple children can be taken to a “pony party.”
Pony riding for children is very good for them on a number of levels. First, they get the joy and experience of riding a pony. It also helps them learn a sense of control over their environment when they are riding a living pony. It can help them learn not to be intimidated by animals or by others who are larger in size than they are.
It is also a great educational opportunity for children to learn about animals in general and horses in particular. They are also taught basic safety rules which are always helpful, including awareness and vigilance, though they only perceive it as “being careful.”
When this is done in groups, it is a great social interaction for the children and a very memorable shared experience between peers. Outings such as pony riding can also be beneficial to a child’s self-esteem in many ways. They are in control and socially interacting with peers in a special place on a special occasion.
The Foxdale Riding School is very much in alignment with our philosophy and mission of “learning through play.” It is a lot like what we do at Cuddles Childcare Centres: children are engaged in activities together and are encouraged to interact and have fun while they are learning important life skills.
